Blurring a Portion of Your Video in Premiere Pro

If you’ve ever needed to blur or censor a portion of your video but didn’t know how, you’re in the right place. Today, I am going to show you just how quick and easy it is to do so in Premiere Pro CC.

Duplicate the layer you’d like to blur.

Press ALT + click + drag to duplicate.

Trim the clip to the amount of time you need it to be.

Press C to activate the RAZOR TOOL to trim. Delete excess footage.

Go to your Effects Panel. Search for ‘Crop’.

Drag and drop ‘Crop’ onto the duplicated clip.

Go back to your Effects Panel. Search for ‘Blur’.

Drag and drop your favorite blur style onto the duplicated clip.

I went with ‘Gaussian Blur’.

Toggle the view off the original clip. Make sure the duplicated clip is selected.

Go to your Effect Controls Panel. Scroll down to the newly added ‘crop’ and ‘blur’ controls. Customize as needed.

TA-DA! You’ve blurred a portion of your video!
